Himagri Unismuh Makassar Combines Business Expo and Nature Tadabbur

UNISMUH.AC.ID, MAKASSAR — The Agribusiness Student Association (Himagri) of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, held a series of Business Innovation Expo and Tadabbur Alam (Nature Contemplation) for the Class of 2025 on Monday, June 29, 2026. The event, which ran until July 4, 2026, served as a platform for developing entrepreneurship, leadership, and student character building.

The opening ceremony took place in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Agriculture, 6th Floor, Iqra Tower, Unismuh Makassar Campus. The event carried the theme “The Pioneer's Journey: Cultivating Leadership Spirit to Realize an Inclusive Himagri”.

The Business Innovation Expo is an outcome of the Agripreneurship course. In this event, students showcased various innovative products alongside micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) actors. Meanwhile, Tadabbur Alam was designed as a space for spiritual development, leadership, and strengthening solidarity among new Agribusiness students from the Class of 2025.

Entrepreneurship Learning Space

The Head of the Committee, Miftahul Khair, stated that organizing these two agendas was an effort to provide a more complete learning experience for students. According to him, students are not only required to understand theory but also need direct experience in developing ideas, collaborating, and building character.

He added that the collaboration between the business expo and tadabbur alam is expected to strengthen students' academic abilities, entrepreneurship, and spiritual values in a balanced manner.

The General Chairman of Himagri Faculty of Agriculture Unismuh Makassar, Diva Risky Asyaitum, along with the Chairman of the Faculty of Agriculture Student Executive Board (BEM), Farhan Fadlurrahman Has, invited students from the Class of 2025 to take on the role of a pioneering generation. They hoped that the new students would be able to build an organization that is inclusive, open, and adaptive to the times.

The Head of the Agribusiness Study Program at Unismuh Makassar, Muh. Ikmal Saleh, S.P., M.Si., emphasized the importance of downstreaming agricultural innovation through business development. According to him, agribusiness students need to be able to process ideas into value-added and competitive products.

“Through this Business Innovation Expo, we want to see the birth of creative ideas and innovative products that can compete in the modern market. This is an initial step for students to learn independently and become future job creators,” said Ikmal.

Leadership and Character

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Unismuh Makassar, Dr. Ir. Hj. Andi Khaeriyah, M.Pd., IPU., officially opened the event. She appreciated Himagri's initiative to combine strengthening entrepreneurial competence with character building through Tadabbur Alam.

According to her, student leadership is not only formed through classrooms or business activities. Leadership also needs to be supported by integrity, social sensitivity, gratitude, and closeness to spiritual values.

Therefore, Tadabbur Alam is expected to be a means for students to strengthen character, build solidarity, and foster awareness that knowledge and skills need to be directed towards benefiting society.

After the opening, the event continued with an Entrepreneurship Seminar themed “Optimizing Student Creativity and Innovation in Building a Competitive Entrepreneurial Spirit through the Business Innovation Expo”.

The seminar featured Fitra Ariansyah, S.TP., M.Si., as Industry Mentor, Head of Training Organizing Team, and LSP Certification Manager. He presented the importance of product standardization, competency certification, and the ability to read industry opportunities for young entrepreneurs.

Another speaker, Dr. Ir. Akbar, S.P., M.Si., IPM., QPOA., a lecturer from the Agribusiness Study Program at Unismuh Makassar, discussed strategies for building an entrepreneurial mindset based on local agribusiness potential to compete in the digital era.
